May 2003

"She is very Catholic…" These were the words of Lorena referring to her mother. Lorena has been attending our church with her five year old son Brandon since December. She lives 45 minutes from our church in her mother's home. When we told her that we wanted to visit her so we could talk to her mother about Christ, she told us, "She will never want to come to the church. She is very Catholic and she will never leave her religion."

Two weeks later we went to Lorena's house and began to talk to her mother, Esperanza. "Esperanza" means "Hope" in English. I talked to her about the precious eternal life that God gives us through Jesus Christ. She listened attentively and a half an hour later she was praying to receive Christ as her personal Saviour. Glory to God! Up till now, Esperanza has been faithfully attending our church each Sunday for more than two months. It now looks like the mother is bringing the daughter and grandson to church! God can change the hardest Catholic, without a doubt.

Tehuacán and Oaxaca.
Monday, May 5th, we had the opportunity to go to the city of Tehuacán (2 hours from Puebla) for a conference on the family. Alltogether we were 23 that went! The next day we went to Oaxaca, a city four hours south of Puebla, for another conference. We were a total of eight for that trip. All the members came back very encouraged because of the tremendous preachings that we heard.

There is no more room!
Without a doubt, the most special day for us this month was Sunday, May 11th. Our highest attendance before this day had been 42 people. This Sunday morning we had the closing of our attendance campaign and at the same time celebrated Mother's Day. The people began to arrive early in the morning. When we began the service, our auditorium was already full! One brother said, "Pastor, there is no more room!" We put some chairs in the hallway and some others close to the pulpit. At least ten more were standing outside! At the end of the service, the same brother told me, "Pastor, I counted and you are not going to believe it! We were 84 people in total!" Glory to God we doubled our previous highest day! We had 25 mothers present and many visitors. Many of them heard the great plan of salvation for the first time and 3 were saved.

Land for the church.
Please help us pray that God will provide land for our church. We would like to find a very good location for the future place of our church. Land here in Puebla is very expensive and we need your prayers to find a good deal. May God bless you and thank you for your prayers!

By His Grace,
Arturo Muñoz Jr.
