God has allowed us to stay strong during this time of coronavirus. Our church was able to keep its doors opened but we had to divide our church services in two, in order to accommodate fewer people in our facilities. One service starts at 10:00 AM and the second service starts at 11:30 AM. Our other church services stayed the same.

Even though we are not “promoting” church and inviting people as before, we have been able to see many visitors still come to our Sunday morning services. During our Resurrection Sunday we had four first-time visitors and this last Sunday we had another three first-time visitors. We praise the Lord for that!

Samuel

Samuel visited our church for the first time three weeks ago. That Sunday, one of our church soul-winners led him to the Lord and invited him to come back Sunday night. He came back! Then, we invited him to take our discipleship class that we impart on Thursday nights. And he came for the class! Last Sunday Samuel said: I feel as if a big burden was lifted of my shoulders.” Samuel was a drug addict, but now he is a sinner saved by grace on his way to Heaven!

Yareth

Two weeks ago, I went out soulwinning with my seventeen-year-old daughter Rachel. I always have fun when I get to go soulwinning with my own family! We came across Yareth. She is a single-young-mom that suffers from depression. We invited her to a special meeting that we were going to hold at our church that night. That night she came to church! She brought her three children and a friend. She told us that when she was a child she got saved while attending a Baptist church and a bus would come every Sunday morning to pick her up and take her to church. The name of the church: Northwest Bible Baptist Church in Elgin, IL. Praise the Lord for bus routes! Now she is excited that another Baptist church cares for her soul. Pray for her, as she deals with depression. We trust that God will heal her!

Construction

Many of our church members have been laid-off or have lost their jobs. In the last two weeks we have been able to help four of the men of our church through our construction program. They come Monday through Friday to help with the construction and we pay them week by week. Is not much but they are thankful that they can bring food to their table with this help. We thank God that He is providing for our construction and we are able to help these dear families that are in need! Our much-needed bathrooms are almost finished! Praise

Furlough

We had planned a short furlough to the States during the summer. But now, due to the outbreak, our trip is uncertain. We still would like to visit some of you that are praying for us and holding the rope. Please pray for us as we make the changes that we need to make in order to still visit some churches in the States and drop off our two oldest kids at Bible college. Thank you and God bless you!

Construction

We moved to our new building the first week in July. Since then, our membership has grown about 20%! Our people is very excited about the new place and we believe soon we will fill this place up!

The new building that we bought is like a big warehouse and needs lots of construction to close it up and make it more secure. Please pray for this need and if you can help in any way, we would really appreciate it! 1,000 blocks or bricks cost 3,500 pesos or about $190 dollars. And one ton of concrete is 2,700 pesos or about $150 dollars. Any of these would be a big blessing.

Youth Camp

Two weeks ago we had our annual youth camp. We had 90 in attendance including some workers. Different Pastors from the area preached to the youth and praise the Lord we had some young people saved and three that surrendered for full time service. One of them is a young woman named Paola that already finished college and has a medical doctor degree. She decided to leave her career and now is in Bible college ready to serve the Lord!

Bible Institute

This first week in September we started our 8th year in our Bible college. We started with fourteen students this semester. One of our teachers is a missionary that we have known since we arrived here in Puebla. He has been very involved in trying to reach Muslims to the Lord, and now he is teaching a class in our Bible Institute on how to do exactly that! Pray that our students will get a burden to reach those that are trapped in the Islam teachings.

Our final payment

Please help us pray –urgently- so that we can make the second and final payment of our new property. Right now we are selling our old church property for a little over 100 thousand dollars and that is the exact amount that we need to make our final payment for our new place. The owner agreed to give us four months and the time is running out. Our due date is the 20th of October. We have faith that God will help us find a buyer! It’s just a matter of time.

My wife’s new book

Not too long ago, Nicole – my wife, wrote a book about how to better serve and please the Lord.  If you know someone (a lady) that speaks Spanish and would like to buy a copy of the book, please let me know. You can text me of call my Mexican phone number: +521 (222) 449-6155. The book costs $10 dollars plus shipping. Proceedings will further help our ministry here in Mexico.

First of all, let me say that we have been so blessed to be serving our Lord here in Mexico. We are very thankful for all of His blessings and all the things that he allowed us to do in His service. We pray that God will help us do more this 2015, and we pray that God will do more in each one of you as well. Happy New Year!

Baptisms of Eduardo and Cristian

We started the year right, with people saved in our church and two baptisms! One of them, Eduardo, has been coming to our church for quite a while. A week before getting baptized, he told me that he did not remember if he had been baptized or not, so he asked his family, if they new by chance if they new if he got baptized as a little boy. They said no. So Eduardo made things right and got baptized.

We need to move

Recently, the City of Puebla, added a new public transportation service called “metrobus”. This bus is good for the people, since it will help them get around the city faster and easier. The problem with this metrobus is that it has already affected our parking area in front of our church. There is no place for cars to park as they used to in front of our church. This problem, and the fact that we don’t fit in our church and our vision to grow, leaves us with the need to move to a different place. Please help us to pray so that this year we can find a piece of land at least twice as big as our current property. Thank you!

Bible Institute

We start our spring semester of our Bible Institute this coming Tuesday. We have eight teachers ready to teach! Among them four Pastors! including me. We are expecting between 7 to 10 students for this semester. Our classes are in the morning from Tuesday to Thursday. This is our sixth year and God continues to bless!

Tracts and Visitors

Last month, during the Christmas vacation, we printed 10,000 tracts and we went to downtown Puebla to give them out. It was so exciting to see our church people, with a heart for souls, give this tracts and share the Gospel with people.

Today we had a total of 10 first time visitors in our church. One of them is a lady named Angeles. She came to church as a result of a Bible class that I give every Thursday in a house of one of our church members. She seem to enjoy Sunday School and Church and she said that she made the decision to keep on coming every Sunday! Praise the Lord!

Please pray for Pilar Ortiz. She is a lady that I led to the Lord few days ago. She lost all mobility of arms and legs back in September. She contracted a disease that affects her nervous system. She is very sad that she can not move, but now, very happy that she is going to Heaven!

In Christ,

Arturo Munoz and Family.

Prayer Requests:

  • For our Bible Institute
  • For a piece of land for our church twice as big
  • For us to start a new mission church this year
  • For our upcoming trip to Texas in September to renew our van’s permit.

40,000 Gospel Tracts

Bro. Salvador Derreza, missionary to India, giving out tracts

Bro. Salvador Derreza, missionary to India, giving out tracts

First of all, I would like to thank every one of you for praying for our ministry here in Puebla. This year, during the “Day of the Dead” we were able to give out 40,000 tracts, in just few hours, in many of the cemeteries of the city of Puebla. Last year we gave out 20,000 tracts and next year our goal is to give out 80,000 tracts. Many of our church members did this for the first time and were really thankful to be part of this endeavor. They praised the Lord for participating on this and many of them shared with us amazing testimonies on how people got saved.

Our Missions Conference

Missions Conference in Puebla, MEX

Missions Conference in Puebla, MEX

We also had our Annual Missions Conference at the beginning of this month. We had the following missionaries visiting our church and presenting their work:

  1. Salvador Derreza, missionaries to India.
  2. Javier Gonzalez, planting churches in the mountains of Puebla.
  3. Luis Colorado, missionaries to Switzerland.
  4. Jesús Alanis, missionaries in Ecuador.
  5. Pablo Yam, missionaries to Venezuela.
  6. Mike Guzmán, missionaries to Venezuela.
  7. Gerardo Castro, missionaries to Venezuela.
  8. Moises Garrido, planting churches in Puebla.
  9. Felipe Sloan, in Xalapa, Veracruz, our guest speaker.

Our mission church also had 5 other missionaries, and their conference was right after ours. This was the first missions conference for our mission church.

Praise the Lord, our faith promise giving for the year was about $17,000 dollars. Our mission church faith promise for the year was close to $6,000 dollars. This means that between both of our churches we promised $23,000 dollars to reach the world with the Gospel! We are very excited about this, and we thank you for your prayers.

People Saved

The ministries of our church include Wednesday soulwinning, Thursday hospital soulwinning and Saturday soulwinning. We soon are going to add Tuesday visitation in the morning time and Thursday visitation during the evening.

On Wednesdays, we have Bible Institute from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. And then at 10 am we go out soulwinning with the students of the Institute for two hours. Today we had 6 people saved! I had the opportunity to lead the Lord Sra. Lucia Arroyo. She said she is interested for ladies of our church to come to her house and give her a Bible study in her house. Also, I was able to speak with Sr. Lauro González. He did not get saved, but he said he would come to church Sunday morning. So, I am planning to pick him up this coming Sunday. Pray that he will come. He said that he lived in the Los Angeles area, in California, for two years and that no one spoke to him about getting saved. I thought that that was kid of sad. But, praise the Lord he is willing to come to our church.

Land Next To Our Church

Many of you know that we would like to buy the land next to our church. Just recently it went for sale. Right now we only have $30k dollars. And the owners now want $160,000 dollars. This land is a magnificent opportunity to grow our church and have more space. (Right now we only have two Sunday School classrooms.) We covet your prayers so that the Lord can provide the money to buy the property. Another option that we have, is to sell our building and buy a bigger lot near the area were we are. We know that God is in control and we need Him to guide us to know what to do.

Thank you for your prayers and God bless you!

First of all, thank you to you all that have been praying for us during our time in furlough in the States.

We have prepared a video presentation that we are presenting to the churches that we are visiting.

If you would like to show our video in our church, I have made a special link where you can download here!

Thank you again and God bless you,

Sincerely,

Arturo Munoz and family!

Ok. I have a lot of news, but this one is the most important right now. We are taking a short furlough to the States, and we are leaving Mexico on August the 24th.

Lord willing we will be driving through Monterrey and then to the border. Please pray for us as we drive from Monterrey to the border on the 25th since that 3 hour drive is a little scary right now. Although I have been asking around, and they say it is ok to drive during the day… and believe me, we are driving during the day.

We are taking this furlough because of finances. We are living through very exciting times here in Mexico right now. But at the same time our finances are not going well. We are going back to California for the period of four months, from September to December. Please pray that more churches will be willing to take us as their missionaries.

The kids are excited as well, we will be able to enroll them in the Christian school in Vista California during the time we are there. Grandpa and grandma are happy for our long “vacation” that we are taking. But actually, we will be very busy going to churches and presenting our work in different places. If you know of a church that is looking into taking “veteran” missionaries in Mexico, please let us know. My cellphone number while in the States is: 760-331-7691.

Bible Institute

While we go to the States, we are going to “run” a Bible Institute in Mexico. Our last semester we gave 6 hours a week of classes. This time, we are changing our Bible Institute to be in the morning time (from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm).  And three times a week. This will make a total of 12 hours a week. We are very excited about this — and a little sad too, because I won’t be here. My brother-in-law Alejandro will be taking over the church during the time we are gone. I am planning to come back to Mexico at least twice to oversee the work and make sure everything is going ok. (I am also suppose to do a wedding on December the 28th).

Trip to Celaya

Every three years there is a very special Bible conference in the city of Celaya, Guanajuato. Bro. Alejandro Cordova is the Pastor there. Our plan was to leave Puebla last Monday and go to the conference, but a dear lady of our church passed away and had to postpone our trip for Wednesday. The name of this dear lady is Mrs. Alicia Andrade. She was a Sunday School teacher for 60 years! (before she and her husband came to our church 7 years ago) Imagine what an impact she had in the life of little boys and girls, as they heard Mrs Andrade give out the class. She was 86 years old. Please pray for her husband and family as they go through this difficult time.

We were able to hear good preaching in Celaya, and see some good friends during the conference. There were over 3,000 people saved through the soulwinning efforts door-to-door during the conference. Also, there were over 3,000 people that attended the conference from different parts of Mexico. Some even from the US, like my friend Darrell Hurst that pastors in Williamsburg, KY. I bought all the preaching in MP3, and if you are interested, you can subscribe to my podcast in iTunes, as I will be uploading them soon there.

Vacation Bible Schools

This coming Tuesday, we are starting our vacation Bible Schools here in Puebla. This time we are going to held them at three different places. Our goal is to one day have VBS in as much as 50 places or colonias at the same time. Please pray that the kids will come and that a good presentation of the Gospel will be given out. Our VBS run from Tuesday through Saturday, so that Sunday, we can bring them to church and give them their diplomas for attending. We are encouraging moms and dads to come and see their kids receive their diplomas and at the same time present the Gospel to them in case they haven’t heard.

Our Mission Church

Iglesia Bautista en Puebla

Minutes before preaching in our Mission Church here in Puebla, Mexico

Our mission church is going well. Bro. Erik let me know that last Sunday night they had 70 in attendance, with no promotions whatsoever! And that Saturday they had 25 people that came to church to go out soulwinning! How exciting. To God be the glory. Puebla is a big city in need of the Gospel. My prayer is that we can start ten more mission churches in Puebla in the next ten years. Pray that you can too be a part of this! Thank you.
